Indonesia’s largest multi-brand virtual restaurant, Hangry, has raised $10.5 million in its Series A5 funding round, led by Alpha JWC Ventures. The money will help Hangry expand its operations and improve production efficiency.
The company plans to upgrade kitchen equipment so its outlets can serve more customers with better consistency. Hangry is growing its presence across Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, and Bali using its multi-brand strategy.
Hangry is also preparing to expand overseas, starting with Malaysia. Since opening its first outlet in November 2019, the company has grown to 18 brands and over 118 outlets in Indonesia, supported by a strong nationwide team.
“Indonesian consumers today expect both quality and affordability, and that’s exactly the gap Hangry fills,
“Our multi-brand kitchens allow us to serve every order efficiently while keeping prices accessible,” said Abraham Viktor, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hangry.
Meanwhile, this fundraise marks another milestone in Hangry’s partnership with Alpha JWC Ventures, which has supported the company since its early stages.
“Hangry has demonstrated great execution in building a scalable, operations-driven F&B platform,
“Their deep understanding of Indonesian consumers positions them strongly to become a leader in the next growth phase in the region,” said Chandra Tjan, Co-Founder & General Partner at Alpha JWC Ventures.
Consumers, especially millennials and Gen Z, are changing how they eat out. They are choosing local brands that offer the same quality and reliability as big international chains, but at more affordable prices.
Chicken has become Indonesia’s most popular food category online, making up over 20% of food delivery brands. Local brands like Hangry are leading this trend by offering flavors that match everyday Indonesian tastes. Most of Hangry’s 18 brands focus on chicken, with just one brand, Dari Pada, offering coffee and drinks.
Hangry’s main brands—Moon Chicken, Ayam Mak Dura, and Ayam Koplo—are driving growth by combining local flavors, affordability, and consistent quality. This strategy has helped Hangry become one of Indonesia’s top food delivery operators on GrabFood, GoFood, and ShopeeFood.
