Health-tech startup Ovum Raises $2.6 Mn in Seed Round

Health-tech startup Ovum has raised AU$4 million (US$2.6 million) in seed funding to grow its AI-powered platform focused on women's health.

The company also plans to continue developing what it says is the first long-term health data platform built specifically to better understand and support women's health needs.

The funding round was led by Admiralty Capital Group, with participation from Antler, Giant Leap, Brisbane Angels, and other investors. LaunchVic also increased its investment through the Alice Anderson Fund before the fund becomes part of Innovation Victoria later this year.

This new funding comes after Ovum raised $1.7 million in a pre-seed round in 2025. Since then, the company's valuation has tripled.

Ovum will use the new investment to hire more team members and further expand its women's health dataset. The company believes this data is key to helping close the gender health gap and improving healthcare outcomes for women.

Ovum was founded in 2022 by Dr. Ariella Heffernan-Marks after her own struggles with chronic migraines and feeling that her health concerns were not taken seriously by medical professionals.

The company aims to help women better understand their health, track symptoms and patterns over time, and feel more confident when discussing their health with doctors and healthcare providers.

“I’ve sat on both sides of the desk, as a patient and as a doctor, and that’s why this mission matters so much to me,” she said.

“For too long, women have had to navigate healthcare systems that were not designed around their lived experiences or backed by sufficient female health data. Ovum exists to help women better understand their bodies, advocate for themselves with confidence, and contribute to research that improves care for future generations.”

Ovum has partnered with several organizations, including Medibank, Fernwood Fitness, Sweat, and Menopause Friendly Australia.

The company is also working with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood on a pilot program that studies how women's health issues can affect their ability to work, including cases where women reduce their working hours or leave their jobs due to health-related challenges.
