Intel plans to invest an additional $2.6 billion in Vietnam, taking its total investment in the country to $4.1 billion, the U.S. chipmaker announced on Friday as it marked 20 years of operations in Vietnam.

The company said its facility at Saigon High Tech Park, which started in 2006 with a few hundred employees, has grown into Intel's largest assembly and testing site globally. The facility now employs around 6,500 people. Before the latest investment announcement, Intel had invested $1.5 billion in Vietnam.

Over the past two decades, Intel Products Vietnam has manufactured more than 4 billion products and generated over $110 billion in export value. In 2025 alone, the facility contributed $11.67 billion in exports, accounting for 57% of Saigon High Tech Park's total exports and about 12% of Ho Chi Minh City's overall exports.

Apart from manufacturing, Intel has invested around $22 million in education, environmental, health, and safety initiatives in Vietnam. The company said it has helped train nearly 10,000 Vietnamese engineers, technicians, and industry leaders, while supporting more than 600 local suppliers in advanced manufacturing.

Recently, Intel donated over 30 semiconductor assembly and testing tools to Saigon High Tech Park and Vietnam National University Hanoi to support semiconductor education and research. The company said it is the first in Vietnam to repurpose chip manufacturing equipment for training purposes.

Intel also highlighted its sustainability efforts, noting that the facility has saved more than 60 million kWh of electricity, used 3.2 million kWh of green energy, reduced carbon emissions by over 16400 tonnes and recycled 99% of its waste.

Looking ahead, Intel plans to expand its digital and AI-focused training programs in partnership with government and local organizations, support Vietnam's goal of developing 50000 semiconductor engineers by 2030.
