LankaPay, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, and Alipay+ have partnered to help grow tourism in Sri Lanka.
Their goal is to attract more international visitors, especially from the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The partnership will use Alipay+, which is a global payment system by Ant International. In Sri Lanka, it will be supported by LankaPay.
This platform connects more than 40 international partners, including e-wallets and banking apps. It reaches over 1.8 billion users around the world.
Using this network, special marketing campaigns will be launched to promote Sri Lanka as a travel destination, especially to attract high-spending tourists.
As part of this plan, users paying through LankaQR will get offers and discounts. These rewards aim to encourage more people to visit and spend more, helping boost tourism revenue.
This initiative will also help local businesses, especially small and micro businesses, by encouraging them to use LankaQR.
By using LankaQR, shop owners can accept payments from international customers more easily and grow their business.
Overall, this partnership supports Sri Lanka in increasing the use of digital payments and improving its financial system.
The agreement was officially signed in Colombo, making the partnership formal.
