Macquarie Asset Management Secures $800 Mn for Infrastructure Services Fund

Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) has raised approximately $800 million for its Macquarie Strategic Opportunities Fund (MSOF), a private equity fund focused on companies providing services to infrastructure operators in the United States and Europe. The fund aims to invest in businesses supporting essential infrastructure across the energy, industrial, and power sectors.

The fund is led by senior executives Hani Zogheib and Andrew Olinick. According to sources familiar with the fundraising, MAM is also seeking additional commitments to expand the fund's investment capacity.

Fund Targets $1.5 Billion to $2 Billion in Commitments

MSOF is a 10-year private equity fund targeting a net internal rate of return (IRR) of approximately 20%. Alongside the $800 million raised for the main fund, MAM has secured around $700 million in co-investment capital from investors participating directly in selected deals.

The firm aims to secure total core commitments of between $1.5 billion and $2 billion. The strategy focuses on businesses that provide specialised services to infrastructure operators rather than investing exclusively in infrastructure assets themselves.

Three Investments Completed So Far

Three Investments Completed So Far

MSOF has signed three deals since launching its investment strategy. These transactions cover businesses involved in infrastructure inspection, specialised industrial materials, and electricity transmission.

The fund's investments include:

  • SI Solutions: In October 2026, MSOF agreed to acquire the North Carolina-based company, which provides asset integrity inspection services across the nuclear, natural gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.
  • Potters Industries: In November 2025, the fund acquired the Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of engineered glass beads used in road markings. The business was purchased from TJC.
  • DynaGrid Holdings: In February 2025, MSOF made its first investment in the Dallas-based company, which builds and upgrades electricity transmission and substation infrastructure.

These investments reflect the fund's focus on businesses that support the operation, maintenance, and development of essential infrastructure.

Co-Investors Support the Fund's Strategy

Macquarie Asset Management has attracted additional capital from co-investors to support selected acquisitions. Australian superannuation fund UniSuper participated in co-investment funding associated with the Potters Industries and SI Solutions transactions.

The use of co-investment capital allows MAM to bring additional investors into individual deals while expanding the capital available for its investment strategy.
