Malaysia Madani Artificial Intelligence (MMAI Technologies), fully owned by the Malaysian government, and Presight, a global AI and big data company from the UAE announced on Monday a major agreement that will speed up Malaysia’s digital progress.
They said in a statement that by working together, they will use advanced AI and secure cloud technology to improve national security, make the government work better, and use data to help run the country more effectively.
The agreement, officially signed at the ASEAN-GCC Economic Forum 2025, is an important step in AI cooperation between the UAE and Malaysia. It is also Presight’s first big project in Southeast Asia.
The partnership means the two companies will work together on important projects like building secure cloud systems and creating AI tools to improve national safety, public security, and how the government works.
“This partnership is uniquely strengthened by the UAE’s proactive and pioneering efforts in artificial intelligence,
“Having embarked on its AI journey early, the UAE has made significant strides in both the practical application of AI technologies and the development of comprehensive governance frameworks,” said Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia.
He said that Presight’s strong experience provides a great base to help Malaysia reach its own AI goals.
“The UAE’s journey in AI, marked by its progressive policies and robust implementation provides a powerful precedent,
“Through this partnership with Presight, Malaysia gains access to world-class expertise that will propel our nation forward aligning perfectly with our Malaysia Madani vision for a technologically advanced and digitally sovereign future,” he said.
He also said that this partnership helps Malaysia become stronger at home and makes the relationship between Malaysia and the UAE even better. It also puts both countries in an important position in the growing global AI field.
Meanwhile, Thomas Pramotedham, Chief Executive Officer of Presight, said this agreement exemplifies their commitment to using applied AI to create tangible national impact.
He said that by working with MMAI, they are helping Malaysia move faster towards becoming a modern, AI-powered economy. They are also building a strong base for long-term growth, better efficiency, and strength in critical areas.
“From secure data infrastructure to enhanced AI and analytics for key Malaysian agencies, we’re pleased to bring cutting-edge solutions that drive real progress,
“This collaboration reflects our shared belief that technology, when used responsibly and strategically, can be a catalyst for transformative change,” he added.
He also praised Malaysia’s leaders for their clear vision to boost the economy by investing in important AI projects for the country.
The agreement between Presight and MMAI supports the main goals of Malaysia’s MADANI economic plan, which the government started in July 2023.
The plan aims to improve Malaysia’s economy by encouraging sustainable growth, fair sharing of wealth, and strong investment in new ideas and technology.
Presight is an ADX-listed public company with Abu Dhabi-based G42 as its majority shareholder.
