Navi Medical Technologies Raises $4.73 Mn to Launch FDA-Cleared Neonav® in the U.S.

Melbourne- and Boston-based medical device company Navi Medical Technologies has raised approximately US$4.73 million (A$6.8 million) to support the commercial launch of its innovative paediatric vascular access technology in the United States.

SUMMARY

  • Navi Medical Technologies has raised US$4.73 million (A$6.8 million) to expand its pediatric medical device business in the United States.
  • The funding follows U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for its Neonav® technology.
  • The company will use the funding to expand manufacturing, build its U.S. commercial team, and launch Neonav® in leading children's hospitals.

The funding comes after the company's Neonav® technology received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance. Navi Medical has also started clinical evaluations of the device at two leading children's hospitals in the United States.

The funding round was led by healthcare venture capital firm KP Rx, which invested A$4 million. Existing investor Innovation Victoria also joined the round, along with Pacific Channel, an investment firm based in New Zealand and Melbourne.

The new funding will be used to increase manufacturing, build Navi Medical's sales and commercial team in the United States, and support the launch of its Neonav® technology in leading children's hospitals across the country.

Alex Newton, Chief Executive Officer of Navi Medical Technologies, said: "Neonatal and paediatric clinicians have relied on technologies that were never designed for their smallest patients."

Hashan De Silva, Partner at KP Rx, said Navi had reached an important commercial inflection point. "Navi has developed a genuinely differentiated technology addressing a significant unmet clinical need. The company has demonstrated exceptional execution – from product development to FDA clearance and early engagement with leading US children's hospitals. We believe the Neonav® has the potential to become an important new technology in neonatal and paediatric vascular access, and we're excited to support the team as they scale."

Founded in 2017 by Alex Newton, Navi is a medical technology company focused on improving healthcare for children. Its goal is to develop innovative medical solutions that meet the special healthcare needs of young patients.

The company aims to give children healthier futures by creating new technologies that help doctors provide safer and better medical care.
