Owners ID has raised US$260,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Crucifer Investments.
The company said it will use the new funding to improve its products and technology, increase manufacturing capacity, upgrade its mobile app, develop AI-based recovery systems, strengthen its brand, and expand into global markets.
Founded in November 2022 by Jesintha Louis, Owners ID, based in Bengaluru, is developing a privacy-focused system that helps people recover lost items using QR code technology.
The platform allows lost belongings to be returned without users needing to share personal details such as phone numbers or home addresses.
The system is simple to use and does not require an app download, batteries, or expensive hardware.
The company provides products for many everyday items, including luggage, keys, wallets, passports, important documents, electronics, gadgets, pet tags, and health IDs.
Owners ID aims to combine smart recovery tools, digital identity, and safety technology into one platform.
In the long term, the startup plans to create a digital identity system for physical belongings such as pets, luggage, electronics, valuables, and even people.
The company is solving a common problem of losing everyday items. According to its estimates, around 82 million items are lost every year in India, while the global figure is estimated to exceed 319 million annually.
