Partior Partners With National Bank of Bahrain to Explore On-Chain Dinar Settlement
Oct 16, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with blockchain settlement company Partior to explore the potential settlement of the Bahraini dinar (BHD) through Partior’s multi-bank network. Announced on October 15, 2026, the agreement aims to assess the technical, operational and regulatory requirements for introducing dinar settlement on the platform.
Under the proposed arrangement, NBB could serve as a settlement bank for the Bahraini dinar on Partior’s network. However, both companies will first evaluate the operating model, technical feasibility, implementation requirements and applicable regulations before deciding whether to move forward.
NBB and Partior to Assess Dinar Settlement
The agreement provides a framework for NBB and Partior to examine how the bank’s local market expertise and infrastructure could support Bahraini dinar settlement through blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
Vineet Munot, Group Head of Transaction Banking at NBB, said the bank would assess the technical, operational and regulatory implications of joining new settlement infrastructure.

Partior CEO Humphrey Valenbreder said the collaboration could expand the range of currencies supported by the network and build on the company’s presence in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets.
Partior’s Multi-Bank Settlement Network
Partior operates a blockchain-based, multi-bank settlement network designed to support cross-border financial transactions. Its infrastructure aims to improve how participating financial institutions process settlements across currencies and markets.
The potential addition of the Bahraini dinar could broaden the network’s currency coverage and provide participating banks with another option for managing cross-border settlement flows. However, the benefits and feasibility of the proposed Bahrain integration will depend on the outcome of the evaluation.
