
GXBank, the digital bank branch of GXS Bank in Malaysia, announced on Wednesday that it has changed its senior management team.
Effective June 1, 2025, Pei-Si Lai, the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GXBank, will take on the role of GXS Bank Group CEO following the upcoming retirement of Group CEO Muthukrishnan Ramaswami (Ramu), the bank said in a statement.
Kaushik Chowdhury, the current Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer (Retail) will replace Lai as the CEO of GXBank in Malaysia.
He will be supported by Hildah Hamzah, who will become the Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer, along with the current management team.
Lai led the successful launch of GXBank in November 2023, quickly gaining over one million customers in just one year.
Under her leadership, GXBank received several important industry awards, including Best Malaysian Digital Bank, and awards for governance, risk and compliance, and their Gen-AI innovation.
“We are proud of GXBank’s achievements. Her strong leadership helped reach important milestones, making GXBank a top digital bank in Malaysia.”

He added that Kaushik and Hildah’s appointments highlight the bank’s strong internal leadership.
With their vast experience in banking and at GXBank, Kaushik and Hildah are ready to help the bank focus on empowering Malaysians to become financially strong. They also aim to promote financial inclusion for individuals and small businesses, helping change Malaysia’s banking industry.
Lai thanked GXBank’s dedicated team and partners for their strong support since the bank was started, recognizing their shared effort in building the bank.

GXBank is Malaysia’s first digital bank that commenced operation on September 1, 2023.
