Malaysia’s state-owned company Petronas and South Korea’s Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have taken their long-standing partnership a step further by signing a new agreement (MoU) to work together on innovation and sustainability in the global energy industry.
In a statement last Wednesday, Petronas said this deal not only confirms its role as a long-term LNG (liquefied natural gas) supplier to KOGAS but also shows their shared goal of developing cleaner energy solutions. This includes exploring carbon capture and storage (CCS), renewable energy, and hydrogen projects to help tackle climate change.
“This continued collaboration with KOGAS signifies a key milestone in our longstanding partnership and reaffirms our shared commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable energy solutions,” said Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim, Vice President of LNG Marketing and Trading, Petronas.
Petronas called this agreement an important step forward in its long partnership with KOGAS, which began back in 1991.
The company said it is excited to work closely with KOGAS to improve the entire energy supply chain, using their shared experience to deliver cleaner and more reliable energy to the world and help build a low-carbon future.
“We hope that today’s signing of this MoU will serve as a meaningful milestone, enabling our two companies to combine complementary strengths,
“As we move forward together, we are confident that this partnership will not only contribute to the development of both companies but also play a vital role in promoting sustainable energy solutions,” said Oh Kwon Taek, Kogas’s Senior Vice President of Hydrogen and New Business Unit.
