As part of its plans to increase its presence, Singapore-based data centre operator Princeton Digital Group has announced that it has acquired Yahoo’s data centre located in the city-state of SG3.

According to the release, PDG will expand its hyperscale data centre in Singapore, which it now owns and runs, with this acquisition. Yahoo’s infrastructure will remain hosted at SG3, and PDG will make additional investments to manage the data centre as a third-party operator.

The transaction takes place concurrently with PDG obtaining its first $280 million green loan to support the construction of its data centre campus in Malaysia.

In 2017, Rangu Salgame co-founded Princeton Digital Group, an Asian data centre operator. It presently operates 20 data centres in five different nations. Financial institutions, as well as Internet and cloud enterprises, benefit from it.

“The acquisition of Yahoo’s SG3 data centre is another illustration of PDG’s three-pronged investment strategy of greenfield development, carve-outs and acquisition,” says PDG chairman, CEO and co-founder Rangu Salgame. Along with a strategic asset, we gain an important customer in Yahoo and additional capacity to serve PDG’s customers,” he adds.

In addition to strengthening PDG’s SG+ strategy of building data centre campuses around Singapore, Batam, and Johor, the acquisition increases PDG’s presence in Singapore. With this deal, PDG’s portfolio now includes over 20 data centres with a capacity of one gigawatt.
