RobotPlusPlus Raises Series C to Expand Industrial Robotics Globally
Sep 16, 2026 | By Nguyen Minh

Beijing-based RobotPlusPlus (ROBOT++) has closed a Series C funding round worth hundreds of millions of RMB, equivalent to tens of millions of dollars. Qianggang Capital Fund led the round, with participation from GIG Capital Group, Sealand Innovation, and Juntong Capital. Existing investor Fosun RZ Capital also increased its stake.
SUMMARY
- RobotPlusPlus has raised hundreds of millions of RMB in Series C funding to support global expansion and develop embodied AI technologies.
- The company develops working-at-height robots for industries such as marine, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, and wind energy.
- Its robots have been used across 18+ countries, with more than 2 million operating hours recorded.
What is RobotPlusPlus?
RobotPlusPlus develops robots designed to perform dangerous maintenance and industrial tasks that are traditionally handled by workers on scaffolding or other hazardous structures.
Its robots are used across industries including shipbuilding, oil and gas, wind power, and building maintenance. The systems allow workers to supervise operations and make decisions from safer locations.
The company has focused on hull maintenance, where its derusting robots remove rust from cargo vessels. RobotPlusPlus says its systems can complete this work five to six times faster than manual methods while lowering overall costs by 30% to 50%.
How Much Funding Has RobotPlusPlus Raised?
RobotPlusPlus has raised hundreds of millions of RMB in its latest Series C round. The available sources describe the funding as worth tens of millions of US dollars.
Who Invested in RobotPlusPlus's Series C?
Qianggang Capital Fund led the Series C round. GIG Capital Group, Sealand Innovation, and Juntong Capital also participated.
Existing investor Fosun RZ Capital increased its investment in RobotPlusPlus as part of the latest round.
Why the Funding Matters
The new funding will support RobotPlusPlus' international expansion and further development of embodied AI systems for industrial environments.
The company is also working to expand its robotics technology beyond ship maintenance and into other high-risk industrial applications. Its AI development uses operational data collected from robots working in real industrial settings.
Who founded RobotPlusPlus?
RobotPlusPlus was founded in 2015 by Dr. Hua-Yang Xu, who currently serves as the company’s Founder and CEO. He founded the company after graduating from Tsinghua University and has led its development in industrial robotics and working-at-height robotic solutions.
Market and Business Growth
RobotPlusPlus operates in more than 18 countries and has customers and partners including NOSCO Shipyard, Drydocks World, ST Engineering Marine, Saudi Aramco, and Vopak.
Its hull derusting robots have been deployed at more than 100 shipyards and have worked on more than 10,000 cargo vessels. The company says it holds more than 70% market share in this segment.
RobotPlusPlus' robots have accumulated more than 2 million operating hours. More than 60% of its workforce is focused on research and development, while R&D spending has remained above 20% of revenue for three consecutive years.
What Happens Next?
RobotPlusPlus plans to use the Series C funding to expand its robotics systems into more international industrial markets and continue developing embodied AI for complex working environments.
The company is also developing AI models based on data collected from its robots as it moves into additional industrial applications beyond its core ship-maintenance business.
Leadership Statements
"The true value of industrial robotics lies in real-world execution," said Dr. Hua-Yang Xu, Founder and CEO of RobotPlusPlus. "Over ten years, we have built special-purpose robots that are genuinely deployable at scale, and this round lets us bring those solutions to more industrial sites around the world."
"The endgame for embodied AI in industry is not the laboratory; it is the most demanding worksites," said Zhang Zhenming, General Manager of Qianggang Capital Fund. "RobotPlusPlus has brought robot fleets to commercial scale and expanded from ship-hull derusting into other demanding industrial applications. We see the potential for a global platform in autonomous industrial operations."
"We first invested in 2022 and have continued to increase our commitment," said Jin Hualong, chairman of Fosun RZ Capital. "RobotPlusPlus has built deep expertise in special-purpose robotics and marine applications. Its move from individual robots to industrial-grade embodied intelligence and complete system solutions creates strong technical barriers for high-risk industrial environments."
