Sankai Secures Over $70 Mn to Expand Humanoid Robot Components

China-based Zhejiang Sankai Electromechanical has Secures more than $70 million in Series B funding to strengthen its production capacity, advance robotics technology, and develop precision gear reducers for humanoid robots.

The funding round was co-led by the Industrial Mother Machine Industry Investment Fund and Wuchan Zhongda Investment. Caitong Capital and Wenling Haihe Rongzhi also participated in the round.

How Will Sankai Use the Funding?

How Will Sankai Use the Funding

Sankai will use the newly Secures capital to expand research and development in humanoid robot joint reducers and integrated drive technology. The company also plans to increase manufacturing capacity and strengthen its position in China's high-end transmission components market.

Precision gear reducers are essential components in robotic joints because they help control movement, speed, torque, and positioning. As humanoid robots become more advanced, demand for reliable and high-performance transmission systems is increasing.

What Does Sankai Electromechanical Do?

Zhejiang Sankai Electromechanical specialises in precision planetary reducers and other transmission components used in industrial equipment and robotics.

The company was among China's early manufacturers to independently develop and mass-produce precision planetary reducers. It began volume production in 2012 and has since expanded into several industrial applications.

Sankai Expands Its Humanoid Robotics Business

Sankai has been increasing its presence in China's humanoid robotics supply chain by developing components designed for robotic joints. The company has reportedly established supply relationships with several leading robotics manufacturers, including the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, and has begun delivering products in batches.

One notable example is the Tiangong humanoid robot series. At the second World Humanoid Robot Games in August 2026, the series reportedly won 45 medals and set records across events including sprinting, high jump, long jump, and weightlifting. Sankai supplied core joint components for the robots.

New Manufacturing Facility to Increase Production Capacity

Earlier in 2026, Sankai broke ground on a second manufacturing facility as part of a project designed to produce one million precision gear reducers annually. The facility covers approximately 60,000 square metres.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate additional annual output value of around $137.5 million. The planned manufacturing operations include integrated production lines for servo motors and drive systems.

Plans to Develop Integrated Robotic Joint Modules

Sankai also plans to expand beyond individual gear reducers by developing modular joint units that combine motors and reducers into integrated products.

Founder and CEO Jiang Jianbin said the company's goal is to provide plug-and-play, highly integrated joint modules for robotics manufacturers.

However, Sankai does not plan to develop its own drive controllers, according to Jiang, because many major robotics manufacturers already develop these systems internally.

Previous Funding and Investors

Sankai previously raised more than $13.8 million in a Series A funding round led by Fortune Capital in late 2025.

The latest Series B investment comes as China seeks to strengthen its domestic supply chain for advanced manufacturing and humanoid robotics. Precision reducers remain important components in robotic systems, where performance, durability, and movement accuracy can affect overall functionality.

By investing in research, manufacturing expansion, and integrated joint technology, Sankai aims to strengthen its position as demand for humanoid robots and industrial automation equipment grows.

About Zhejiang Sankai Electromechanical

Zhejiang Sankai Electromechanical is a Chinese manufacturer of precision planetary reducers and transmission components. Founded in 2007, the company serves industries including industrial automation, machine tools, robotics, photovoltaics, and medical equipment.

Sankai has expanded into humanoid robotics through the development of harmonic reducers, planetary joint reducers, and integrated joint module technology. Its manufacturing expansion and research initiatives are focused on supporting the growing demand for precision motion-control components.
