Scapia raises $63 million in round led by General Catalyst

India-based travel fintech startup Scapia raised US$63 million in a funding round, led by General Catalyst. Existing investors Peak XV Partners and Z47 also participated in the round.

The company will use the new funding to expand its business and launch more products in its financial services and travel segments.

Founded in 2022 by ex-flipkart senior executive Goteti, Scapia operates in both the travel and fintech sectors, offering co-branded credit cards and financial products specially designed for travellers.

The startup has partnered with Federal Bank and BOBCARD for its credit card services. It also claims to be the first company in India to launch a co-branded credit card that supports both Visa and RuPay networks.

According to Scapia, flight bookings on its platform grew 5–6 times over the past year, while hotel and stay bookings increased 8 times. The company also said that more users from Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India are now using its platform.

Scapia plans to expand its commerce business by adding more products, especially travel-related products and merchandise for customers. The company will also use the new funding to hire and retain skilled AI professionals in engineering, product, data science, and design roles.

In the last six months, Scapia has expanded beyond credit cards and built a broader travel platform. It has launched new services such as Scapia Pay for UPI rewards, add-on credit cards, BBPS bill payments, Scapia Store, and Scapia Experiences.

The platform rewards users with Scapia Coins, which can be used for booking flights, hotels, trains, buses, visa services, and travel experiences. It also offers zero forex markup on international spending and airport benefits like dining, shopping, duty-free services, and lounge access.
