Japan-Based Shiseido China Collaborate with Alibaba Cloud

China-based digital technology company Alibaba Cloud announced , that it has partnered with Shiseido China on DRUNKGPT technology, which is powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

In a statement, Alibaba Cloud said that the application of Shiseido’s Drunk Elephant’s new DRUNKGPT technology has made use of its proprietary large language model Qwen for improved customer interaction in China. This allows for more personalized and nuanced responses to customer inquiries ranging from product recommendations to skincare advice.

It should be mentioned that Alibaba Cloud and Drunk Elephant, which Shiseido China’s Digital Transformation Office bought in 2019, collaborated to create a distinctive and engaging customer application.

This program offers creative digital interaction options in an effort to create a more engaging brand experience.

According to the statement, its fundamental function is as a 24/7 AI-powered skincare assistant that answers questions from customers and offers tailored recommendations.

Yosano Masahiro, Head of Solution Architect for Japan at Alibaba Cloud, said they have seen growing demand from customers across sectors, especially in retail, exploring opportunities in the generative AI area. We are excited to offer our full stack of AI offerings from infrastructure, various AI models, to tools and services for AI application development, supporting them to better capitalize on the booming AI trend,” he added.

According to the announcement, Drunk Elephant has created its own customer chatbot, called DRUNKGPT, by utilizing Qwen-max, the newest foundation model from Alibaba Cloud with hundreds of billions of parameters.

This chatbot is intended to function as a novel means of customer interaction, conveying company philosophy and responding to queries from clients about skincare concerns.

DRUNKGPT was subsequently trained on the brand’s knowledge database and optimized with Alibaba Cloud’s various AI services, such as SFT (Supervised Fine-tuning), RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), vector recall, and multi-agent framework, in order to further improve the response’s accuracy and relevancy.

In order to increase brand recognition and promote Drunk Elephant’s ingredient, this digital campaign will be combined with the offline launch events in China. elimination-focused mentality in the Chinese marketplace.

The announcement states that Chinese users of Drunk Elephant’s mini-program can now visit the “Drunk Moment” page. Users can engage with DRUNKGPT on this page by speaking or texting.

The chatbot further improves customer engagement by offering real-time text and speech responses. The voice interaction features are powered by text-to-speech (TTS) and automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology from Alibaba Cloud.

Alibaba Cloud has been Shiseido’s go-to cloud service supplier in China since 2016. The company offers reliable solutions, such as edge computing, cloud-native apps, and security services, to help the top retailer’s business expansion.

According to the statement, this expanded collaboration highlights the shared dedication of both institutions to enhancing lives via beauty and culture, enabled by cutting-edge technology like cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
