Skyro Launches Online Cash Loans in Malaysia to Expand Its Southeast Asian Presence
Nov 5, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

Philippine-based digital lender Skyro has launched online cash loan services in Malaysia, marking its expansion beyond its home market. The company aims to reach more customers through its mobile lending platform.
Skyro Receives Approval to Operate in Malaysia
In September 2026, Skyro announced that it had received approval from Malaysia’s Ministry of Housing and Local Government to provide online moneylending services in the country.
The approval allows the company to offer digital loan products to Malaysian customers through its mobile application.
Loan Amount and Repayment Terms
Skyro's first loan product in Malaysia offers new customers loans of up to MYR 1,000 (approximately US$250).
RECOMMENDED FOR YOU
Customers can repay their loans over a period of up to four months. The company said most applicants receive a loan decision within minutes of submitting their applications.
Skyro also stated that its loans carry a fixed interest rate of 1.5% per month.
Malaysia Strengthens Digital Lending Regulations
Skyro's launch comes as Malaysia continues to regulate online lending services and address illegal moneylending activities.
The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has allowed licensed moneylenders to provide loans online since May 2021.
Authorities are also taking action against illegal lending promotions. According to reports, 14,190 advertisements linked to illegal loan-shark activities have been removed.
Skyro Expands Beyond Its Home Market
The Malaysian launch marks another step in Skyro's regional expansion. In the Philippines, the company has more than 7 million registered users and over US$200 million in active loans.
By entering Malaysia, Skyro joins an existing digital lending market that includes app-based providers such as AdaCash.
The expansion gives the company an opportunity to grow its presence in Southeast Asia's digital financial services market.
