Soket AI Launches LOOP, an Open-Source AI Agent Harness

The developer preview was made available on October 8 2026. It can be used on Linux, macOS and Windows. Soket AI stated that LOOP is meant for groups and organizations that want control over AI models, data, systems and agent processes.

Soket AI has been selected under the IndiaAI Mission to build foundation models for India and the Global South.

What Is LOOP?

LOOP is an infrastructure layer that allows developers to run AI agents for complicated tasks. Unlike being limited to an AI model provider developers can connect models by using their own model base URL.

The platform is developed in Rust. Focuses on using resources having low delays and running tasks in parallel.

LOOP offers features such as session branching, pausing and resuming sessions shared memory between agents and optional isolation.

Built for Long-Running AI Agents

Soket AI mentioned that LOOP is created for AI agents that have to handle tasks instead of finishing short single interactions.

Developers can create a branch in a session pause it and come back to it later while keeping the session history. Multiple agents can also work on the task and share memory.

For situations that require security LOOP offers isolation using methods like rootless containers and microVMs.

Soket AI Reports Reduced Local Resource Usage

Soket AI also shared a comparison between LOOP and Anthropic’s Claude Code.

In the companys test both systems used the Qwen model via OpenRouter. Operated with eight workers. Soket AI tracked the resources used by the agent tools and did not consider remote model inference.

According to the companys findings LOOP used 7.7 times RAM and 17 times less local CPU resources than Claude Code in the tested scenario.

Open-Source and Model-Agnostic Approach

LOOP is built to give developers freedom over the AI models and systems they use.

Developers can link their models add MCP tools and set up agent workflows to meet their needs. This method allows organizations to maintain control over their AI systems than depending entirely on one model provider.

Soket AI refers to LOOP as "the harness for systems you can control."

What Soket AI Plans to Add

The release is a developer preview and several features are still being worked on.

• Group chat for agents

The company is also working on tracking data and a desktop application.
