Sunfox Technologies Raises $7 Mn Series A to Expand Portable Cardiac Diagnostics

An Indian medtech startup called Sunfox Technologies has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round. The money will help the company grow its diagnostic technology in India and in other countries around the world.
Sunfox Technologies is located in Dehradun. The company makes devices that can take and analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) readings using smartphones.
The Series A funding round was supported by Ashish Kacholia, Lashit Sanghvi, Alchemy Capital and 3one4 Capital.
Sunfox Use The Funding
Sunfox plans to use the money to expand its Spandan portable ECG platform in India and in parts of the world. The company will also work on research and development regulatory approvals and commercial activities.
Expanding Spandan ECG Platform
Sunfox started in 2016. It created Spandan as a diagnostic tool. The device works with smartphones to take ECG readings.
The company says about 60,000 Spandan devices are already being used in India. Sunfox also mentioned that its Spandan One platform checks 5 million patients each year.
The company is now trying to grow beyond India. Its goals include the United States, Europe and Africa.
Regulatory Expansion
Sunfox said its products have been approved in India, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.
The company is also trying to get approvals in the United States and the European Union. The new funding should help with these plans.
