Trendspek Raises $6 Million to Expand AI-Powered Infrastructure Monitoring

Trendspek's Infrastructure Monitoring Platform

Trendspek helps infrastructure operators create digital records of assets such as ports, energy facilities, and telecommunications infrastructure.

The company's platform brings inspection information into a 3D environment, allowing engineers and maintenance teams to identify defects, add notes, take measurements, and monitor changes over time.

The platform is currently used by more than 860 organisations across more than 1,700 sites, with over 128,000 virtual site visits completed.

Trendspek's customers include Chevron, Woodside Energy, NSW Ports, Grain LNG, and Vocus. The company has also worked with Suncor Energy in Canada and the Port of Rotterdam.

How Trendspek Uses Drones and 3D Data

Trendspek's approach is influenced by aviation maintenance, where components have documented service histories that can be monitored over time.

The company combines inspection data collected through drones, robotics, and handheld devices to create 3D models of infrastructure. Engineers can then use these models to track asset conditions and identify areas that may require maintenance.

According to Trendspek, NSW Ports reduced the cost of a full jetty inspection by two-thirds using its platform, while inspection timelines were reduced from months to weeks.

Vocus has also reported a reduction in site mobilisation time, while engineering firm WGA has reduced inspection times for large container cranes.

AI Development and Future Plans

Trendspek has collected around seven years of inspection data, which it plans to use to further develop its AI capabilities.

The company is working on AI tools that can help engineers review inspection imagery more efficiently. The technology is being developed to identify potential problems and detect changes between inspections.

The new funding will support Trendspek's expansion into international markets, including North America and Europe, as well as hiring, product development, and customer support.

Trendspek's Previous Funding

The latest $6 million round follows Trendspek's $6.3 million Series A raised in December 2022.

With its latest funding, the company is continuing to develop its infrastructure monitoring platform while expanding its presence in international markets.
