Uber Technologies, the largest mobility and delivery technology platform globally, and WeRide, a leading global provider of autonomous driving technology, has announced a strategic agreement to integrate WeRide’s autonomous vehicles into the Uber platform, starting in the United Arab Emirates.
Later this year, the alliance is anticipated to make its debut in Abu Dhabi. Customers using the Uber app will have access to a specific number of WeRide cars. After launch, riders may be given the choice to have their trip completed by an autonomous WeRide car when they use the Uber app to request a qualifying ride. There are no plans for launches in China or the US as part of this agreement.

WeRide currently operates the largest robotaxi fleet in the UAE, where residents can access its robotaxi services through the TXAI app. In addition, in July 2023, WeRide was granted the UAE’s first and only national license for self-driving vehicles, enabling it to test and operate its autonomous vehicles on public roads across the entire country.
