In order to establish Kadan Capital in Singapore, Rei Murakami Frenzel, the second daughter of Yoshiaki Murakami, the founder of the Murakami Family Foundation in Japan, has partnered with Felix Frenzel, a former Antler investment manager.

Kadan, which translates to “decisive, determined” in Japanese, focuses on making investments in Asian early-stage businesses that have a strong track record of demonstrating product-market fit and substantial room for quick expansion.

Fintech, SaaS, and AI are the target verticals in Southeast Asia (particularly Singapore and Indonesia), Japan, and the Middle East (especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE). The price range of the ticket is US$500,000–US$1 million.

“We believe now is the right time to back a new wave of ventures in Asia and beyond,” Kadan Capital said in a statement. “As active investors, we are committed to supporting visionary entrepreneurs with the boldness and conviction to drive meaningful, positive change in the world.”

Because of its advantageous location in Southeast Asia, robust startup environment, and government assistance, Singapore’s early-stage venture capital market is thriving and expanding quickly. Many venture capital (VC) firms that specialize in seed and Series A funding for startups in industries including fintech, AI, e-commerce, and deep tech are based in the city-state.

Incubators and accelerators give firms extra help, while government programs like Startup SG and tax breaks have increased investor interest.
