Amperesand, a company that builds advanced power systems for AI data centers and other important facilities, has raised $80 million in its Series A funding round. The investment was led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Temasek.
The funding round was highly in demand and brought in new investors such as Industry Ventures, Acclimate Ventures, and SG Growth Capital. Existing investors — Xora Innovation, Material Impact, TDK Ventures, and Foothill Ventures — also chose to invest again.
Amperesand’s Medium Voltage Solid-State Transformer (MV SST) technology offers much higher power density and better efficiency than traditional power systems.
This platform is designed to support AI data centers, defense applications, and large-scale charging systems that require megawatt-level power.
The new funding will help Amperesand roll out 30MW of commercial systems in 2026, especially for large AI companies that need very reliable power, fast setup, and extremely high computing capacity.
To meet the growing global demand for its power solutions, Amperesand is expanding its engineering and manufacturing teams in both the U.S. and Singapore.
Young Sohn, Founding Managing Partner at Walden Catalyst Ventures highlights, “AI is redefining the limits of computing. But without a revolution in power infrastructure, this growth simply can’t scale. Amperesand is tackling one of the biggest bottlenecks in data center power delivery by leveraging new high-power, semiconductor-enabled technologies for faster, more efficient, and more sustainable access to energy.”
Amperesand’s MV SST platform creates a strong new base for critical power systems. It reduces installation work by half and speeds up power delivery by 10 times thanks to its all-in-one design, which combines hardware, software, and smart controls into one small unit. This design also cuts the electrical space needed by more than 80%, making it much easier and faster to expand large power facilities.
The platform is built using safe, regionally sourced supply chains, allowing it to be deployed anywhere in the world. With AI-driven software controls, strong cybersecurity, and a patented power technology, Amperesand gives hyperscale data centers and grid operators a fast and dependable way to increase power capacity without harming grid stability.
“Amperesand is obsessed with revolutionizing Medium Voltage to critical load power delivery for next generation AI data centers, defense, and other essential electrified assets. We focus on first principles to achieve market leading power density, efficiency, and reliability,” said Brian Dow, CEO and Co-Founder of Amperesand. “In this era of AI data center and other critical power systems becoming economic and national security interests for many countries, Amperesand’s MV SST Platform enables in-country cyber-secure controls and data, regionally available supply chains, and low CAPEX intensity local manufacturing. Our solution is an intelligent, universal Medium Voltage power source that works on-and-off grid to improve critical infrastructure resilience as new large electrical loads come online.”
Amperesand is a next-generation power infrastructure company that creates advanced power conversion systems for AI data centers and other critical power needs. Its technology helps these facilities run with high efficiency, strong reliability, and easy scalability. The company is led by experienced industry experts and operates internationally from San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore.
