
Skincare brand CHOSEN has raised US$5 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Fireside Ventures, with support from BOLD (L’Oréal’s investment fund), Alkemi Growth Capital, and several angel investors.
Some of the angel investors include CaratLane’s co-founder and former CEO Avnish Anand, along with Chandan Asokan, KC Nischal, Punit Saraogi, Nishita Ranka, and Mikki Singh.
Dr Renita Rajan, Founder and CEO of CHOSEN, stated, “Indian dermatologists have contributed significantly to therapeutic dermatology, but personal care has been left behind, shaped largely by market trends borrowed from circumstances that aren’t ours. CHOSEN is dermatology stepping up to close that gap, built for the Indian exposome and the Indian genome. This round is a validation of the science led,dermatologist developed approach we’ve built CHOSEN around. It gives us the runway to deepen our R&D, bring more dermatologists into product development, and build the evidence base that holistic antiaging for Indian skin deserves.”

Founded in 2020 by Renita Rajan, CHOSEN makes skincare products based on science, specially designed for Indian skin that has more melanin. The brand studies how factors like sunlight, pollution, and lifestyle affect the skin.
It focuses on four main signs of aging: dark spots (pigmentation), uneven skin texture, loss of shape or firmness, and hair aging.
CHOSEN offers both skincare products (like creams and serums) and supplements. All its products are created by dermatologists and are first used in clinics before being offered directly to customers.
CHOSEN currently offers around 58 products, including both doctor-prescribed items and products that customers can buy directly.
These products are available in more than 2,000 clinics across India. The brand also sells online, mainly through its own website.
