Singapore-based Agros Secures $4.25 Million in Series A Round Funding

Singapore-based agri-tech firm Agros secured $4.25 million in A Series A fundraising round in order to boost its growth and innovation.

In addition to the round’s longstanding backers Gaia Impact, Schneider Electric Energy Access Asia, and Wavemaker Impact, Agros said in a statement on Tuesday that it also attracted new investors, including the Global Innovation Fund (GIF), an impact-first fund that supports social innovations in developing nations.

Steve Melhuish, the founder of PropertyGuru and an angel investor, also joined the round to reiterate their support, as did Silverstrand Capital. Agros anticipates raising more money for debt financing in the upcoming months.

Agros’s quick expansion and dedication to revolutionizing Southeast Asian agriculture are highlighted by this investment, which comes after the company raised $2.7 million in a pre-Series A round less than two years ago.

The money will be used by the company to further enhance its internal digital infrastructure, speed up product creation, and propel its statewide expansion in Indonesia. The company entered Indonesia in 2024 and is rapidly growing there in response to the country’s demand for more rice output and less reliance on rainfall.

In the near future, if significant milestones are reached, Agros is thinking about a Series A extension and intends to secure more debt funding in the first half of 2025.

Max Nelen, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Agros said, “This Series A funding marks a major milestone for Agros as we scale our impact across Southeast Asia. With the continued trust of our existing investors and the support of new partners like the Global Innovation Fund, we are accelerating our mission to empower smallholder farmers with sustainable, tech-driven solutions,”

Agros is an agri-tech company that was founded in 2019 and provides sustainable farming solutions to the Asian agriculture industry. The company offers a range of integrated solutions that allow farmers to increase their profits and become climate resilient for future generations by fusing cutting-edge solar irrigation technology with flexible financing.

With solar-powered irrigation systems that completely eliminate fuel costs and save carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, Agros has now extended its operations to Indonesia, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

More than 6,000 smallholder farmers have benefited from the company’s assistance to date, and more than 30,000 people in the farming community have had their lives enhanced.

The business wants to work with 30,000 farmers by 2027 to boost their combined revenue by $40 million and stop 1 million tons of CO2 emissions by using its solutions.

Francesco Valente, Investment Director at the Global Innovation Fund said, “GIF finds and funds innovations that help the world’s poorest people adapt to extreme weather and build resilience to climate shocks, Agros offers innovative products and services and makes them accessible to poor smallholder farmers, maximizing productivity while minimizing environmental impact, Our risk capital investment will support Agros on its pathway to scale, helping the business crowd in additional funding,”.
