Chinese tech giant Alibaba Group and German software company SAP SE announced on Wednesday that they are teaming up to help businesses grow and go digital faster by using advanced cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
Alibaba said in a statement that this partnership brings together SAP’s top business software with Alibaba Cloud’s safe, flexible cloud services and powerful AI technology.
Alibaba Cloud will join SAP’s latest cloud certification program to support customers using SAP’s business cloud services fully.
As part of the partnership, Alibaba Group will use SAP Cloud ERP Private to help manage its business systems.
The partnership will start by focusing on the China market. Later, it will expand to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to help businesses use SAP’s planning tools and start their digital growth with SAP’s services.
Since Alibaba Cloud is now officially approved to handle SAP systems, businesses can run SAP Cloud ERP and SAP Cloud ERP Private using Alibaba Cloud’s services.
The two companies also plan to work together to offer smart and flexible solutions to businesses worldwide, making sure they fit local needs.
Alibaba Group also plans to use many SAP tools like SAP Business AI, SAP Ariba, and SAP SuccessFactors to improve its technology. This will help Alibaba become faster and stronger in supporting its many businesses and customers.
SAP is working on adding Alibaba’s large language model, called Qwen, to its AI system in China. This will let businesses use local AI tools inside SAP’s software and custom AI apps.
SAP is also planning to use its SAP AI Foundation on Alibaba Cloud to provide strong and flexible AI tools to customers in China.
“Our partnership with SAP shows how dedicated we are to helping businesses around the world with top-quality technology,”
“By combining SAP’s enterprise software with Alibaba Cloud’s robust infrastructure and AI capabilities, we are enabling customers to build smarter, more agile operations,” said Joe Tsai, Chairman of Alibaba Group.
Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, said the partnership with Alibaba Group shows how strong and flexible SAP’s cloud solutions are.
“Our shared plan to work together can open up new chances for businesses by giving them access to many useful tools and services,”
“Together, we can help our joint customers drive innovation, improve operational performance, and create new competitive advantages, and we look forward to working with Alibaba to
shape the future of cloud-powered digital transformation,” he added.
