His leadership has now been extended until 30 September 2031. His current term ends on 30 September 2026, and the new term will start on 1 October 2026.

The decision was approved by the company’s board based on the recommendation of the HR and Nomination Committee.

“We wish to inform you that on the recommendation of HR & Nomination Committee, the Board of Directors of the company…has approved…reappointment of Sunil Bharti Mittal as the Chairman of the company for a further term of five consecutive years w.e.f. October 01, 2026,” the filing said.

“Sunil Bharti Mittal has been reappointed by the Board as Chairman for a further term of five years, i.e. from October 01, 2026, to September 30, 2031, subject to approval of the members,” the filing said.

Sunil Bharti Mittal started the Bharti Group in 1976. Over time, the group has grown into a large business that works in areas like telecom, digital infrastructure, satellite communication, and financial services.

His reappointment as chairman will only become official after shareholders give their approval.
