Cybersecurity investment fund Skinos Ventures raises $26 million round

A new cybersecurity investment fund called Skinos Ventures has started in Israel. The fund has raised US$26 million, and most of the money was invested by cybersecurity entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer, who is also helping guide the fund as an advisor.

Shlomo Kramer, one of the founders of Check Point, is known as one of the most active investors in the cybersecurity industry. Over the years, he has invested in companies like Palo Alto Networks and many other startups.

The new fund will be led by Yishay Yovel as General Partner. He previously worked at Cato Networks, founded by Shlomo Kramer, where he helped build the company’s business and marketing strategy as chief marketing and strategy officer.

Before that, Yovel held senior marketing roles at Imperva and Trusteer. He also played an important role in helping grow the SASE cybersecurity category.

“We’ve spent our careers building cybersecurity companies from the ground up. We know what founders go through because we’ve been through it ourselves,” said Yishay Yovel, General Partner at Skinos Ventures. “Our motto is Builders for Builders: it means we don’t just write checks and disappear. We’re in the room working alongside founders to think through the key decisions that are essential to the success of their ventures. We’ve taken companies from ideas to multi-billion dollar outcomes, and we want to put that experience to work for the next generation of Israeli cybersecurity startups.”

Skinos Ventures plans to invest in five startups at the Seed and Series A stages. The fund is mainly looking for companies working in both cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI). It plans to invest $2.5 million in each company.

So far, the fund has already invested in two startups. One of them is still operating secretly in stealth mode, while the other is called Spectrum.
