Singapore-based Digital Edge, a data center company, announced that it has raised IDR 5.5 trillion (US$325 million) in funding from Bank Central Asia (BCA) to support its expansion plans in Indonesia.
BCA is providing this funding to Digital Edge’s Indonesia unit, which includes Indonet (fully owned by Digital Edge since 2023) and Indonet’s subsidiary Ekagrata Data Gemilang (EDGE DC).
Digital Edge said it will use the funds to support its new data center expansion in the Jakarta metro area.
The funding will also be used to refinance its existing BCA facility and complete the final phase of the EDGE2 site in Jalan Kuningan Mulia, South Jakarta.
“This facility will support our continued development of sustainable and market-leading digital infrastructure to the world’s fourth most populous country,” said Digital Edge CFO Jonathan Walbridge in a statement.
The EDGE2 facility, located less than 3 km from EDGE1, went live in February 2024 to meet growing demand from hyperscale and AI deployments.
Digital Edge says EDGE2 is the largest data center in the Jakarta metro area, with a total IT load capacity of 23 MW and over 3,400 racks.
EDGE2 provides access to more than 50 network carriers and several Internet Exchanges already at EDGE1, including Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) and Edge Peering Internet Exchange (EPIX).
EDGE2 also has four separate main entry points into the facility to ensure better interconnectivity and redundancy.
“BCA sees Indonesia’s digital economy growth as a significant opportunity that must be supported by strong technology infrastructure,” said Rudy Susanto, director of corporate at BCA. “We believe Indonet and EDGE DC have the proven track record and capabilities to meet these needs.”
