Cybersecurity Startup Echo Acquires Minimus Assets in Multi-Million Dollar Deal
Aug 28, 2026 | By Nguyen Minh

Cybersecurity company Echo has acquired the technology and other assets of Minimus in an all-cash deal. The deal is estimated to be worth a few million dollars.
SUMMARY
- Echo has acquired Minimus’ technology and other assets in an all-cash deal worth a few million dollars.
- The deal includes Minimus’ technology and customer relationships with companies such as Blackstone, RBS, and SentinelOne.
- Echo will use Minimus’ technology to strengthen its software supply chain security offerings.
As part of the deal, Echo will take over the technology Minimus developed and its customer relationships. Minimus’s clients include Blackstone, RBS, SentinelOne, and several other Fortune 500 companies. Some Minimus employees will also have the opportunity to join Echo.
Minimus recently decided to shut down its operations and return part of the funding it had received to its investors. The decision came after the company’s founders made a second attempt to spin off the business, but the effort was unsuccessful.
The acquisition will help Echo expand its software and services. Before the deal, Minimus was a competitor of Echo in enterprise infrastructure security and software supply chain security.
Both companies developed secure software solutions for businesses. Their goal was to find and fix security problems while software is being built, instead of waiting until after a security breach or vulnerability is discovered.
Their technology checks commonly used open-source software components for security issues and automatically fixes them. This gives companies safer, updated software components that can be added directly to their systems, reducing the need for security and development teams to manually fix thousands of vulnerabilities.
“Minimus built a significant technology around a problem that both they and we believe is fundamental. When it became clear that Minimus was winding down, we saw an opportunity to ensure that the work they had done would not be lost,” says Eilon Elhadad, CEO and co-founder of Echo. “We are bringing the best of what they built into Echo, while also giving their customers a way to continue using secure software.”
“When we made the decision to wind down Minimus, our top priority was finding the right home for the technology we had built, and first and foremost, the right path forward for our customers,” said Ben Bernstein, co-founder and CEO of Minimus. We share the view that software should be secure by default. We are confident that our technology and our customers are in the right hands.”
Echo was founded in 2025 by Eilon Elhadad and Eylam Milner, who are experienced entrepreneurs. They previously founded a startup that was acquired by Aqua Security for $100 million.
Since its launch, Echo has raised $50 million through Seed and Series A funding rounds. Its investors include Notable Capital, N47, Hyperwise Ventures, SentinelOne, and SVCI.
Minimus was founded in 2022 by Israeli entrepreneurs Ben Bernstein, Dima Stopel, and John Morello. They had previously built a company that was acquired by Palo Alto Networks.
Minimus raised $51 million in a seed funding round led by YL Ventures. Mayfield also participated, along with Wiz founders Assaf Rapaport, Ami Luttwak, and Roy Reznik.
