Foxconn Teams Up with NVIDIA to Create AI Factory in Taiwan

Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group (also known as Foxconn) announced on Monday that it is teaming up with NVIDIA to build a modern artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputing center in Taiwan.

Foxconn said it wants to help bring the newest NVIDIA Blackwell technology to businesses, government, and schools in the area. The goal is to speed up the development and use of artificial intelligence in Taiwan.

At the same time, Foxconn’s smaller company, Big Innovation Company, will be Taiwan’s first NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP). This will help make the partnership between Foxconn and NVIDIA even stronger.

As part of this plan, Foxconn is creating a new company called Big Innovation Company. This company will build an AI Factory in Taiwan and work more closely with NVIDIA.

Foxconn’s AI Factory will be one of the most powerful supercomputers in Taiwan. It will use NVIDIA’s Blackwell technology to give businesses, the government, and schools strong computing power.

TSMC researchers plan to use the new system to speed up their research and development by a huge amount, much faster than older systems they used before.

“Share, work together, and grow. Foxconn is teaming up with global leaders to create a smarter and better way of living.”

“This NVIDIA AI factory is laying the foundation for government, industry, and academia to propel Taiwan toward its next era of innovation,” said Foxconn Chairman Young Liu.

Jensen Huang, founder and chief executive officer of NVIDIA, said NVIDIA’s AI factories are the infrastructure for the age of AI and robotics.

“Together, Foxconn and NVIDIA are building a state-of-the-art AI infrastructure for Taiwan’s world-leading technology and electronics ecosystem,” he added.

Dr. C.C. Wei, the Chairman and CEO of TSMC, said that using powerful AI technology helps researchers progress faster in developing new semiconductor technology. This will lead to better solutions for their customers and the world.

“Leveraging this AI factory reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits of AI-driven innovation,” he added.

The supercomputer will use advanced NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra systems, including the GB300 NVL72 setup. It will have fast connections like NVIDIA NVLink, Quantum InfiniBand, and Spectrum-X Ethernet. This powerful system will help drive Foxconn’s three main goals: Smart Manufacturing, Smart Electric Vehicles, and Smart Cities.

Foxconn is joining a global group of NCPs, which provide computing and services using robust systems built with NVIDIA GPUs, networking, and AI software.

Foxconn will also provide computing power from its new AI Factory to NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton, a new AI platform and marketplace. This will help more developers and businesses access the global NVIDIA GPU network.
