GalaxEye Acquires StarOps to Strengthen In-House Satellite Development Capabilities

Founded in 2022, StarOps develops satellite platforms and works on building homegrown spacecraft technology. The company focuses on creating key satellite systems within India.

StarOps has achieved more than 66% indigenisation across its satellite systems. Through the acquisition, GalaxEye aims to strengthen its in-house satellite development capabilities and build more spacecraft technology internally.

Through the acquisition, GalaxEye will gain StarOps’ satellite platforms, technology, engineering knowledge, and experienced team. Some StarOps employees previously worked at TeamIndus on its Lunar Lander and Rover projects.

StarOps has experience in several areas of spacecraft development, including propulsion, avionics, navigation, flight computers, spacecraft structures, electrical systems, mission operations, and ground operations. The company has also developed satellite platforms weighing 50 kg, 150 kg, and 250 kg.

GalaxEye expects the acquisition to help speed up product development and increase in-house capabilities. It will also allow the company to build complete space missions, covering everything from satellite design and development to launch operations and mission management.

Founded in 2021, GalaxEye is developing advanced Earth observation technology through its OptoSAR system. The system is designed to capture detailed images of the Earth from space.

OptoSAR combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) with optical imaging. This combination allows GalaxEye to collect images during both day and night and in different weather conditions.

GalaxEye plans to use this technology to develop scalable space-based solutions for areas such as defence, national security, and commercial applications.
