Vexev Raises $6 Mn to Advance AI-Powered Vascular Imaging Technology in the U.S.

Australian medical robotics company Vexev has raised $6 million in new funding. The company will use the money to move closer to FDA 510(k) clearance and launch its VxWave medical imaging system in the U.S. The latest funding brings Vexev’s total funding to $19 million.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, causing nearly 20 million deaths each year. At the same time, many healthcare providers face challenges in accessing high-quality vascular imaging because of a shortage of specialists and differences in how scans are performed.

Vexev’s VxWave combines robotics, artificial intelligence, and ultrasound technology to automate vascular scans. The system is initially being developed for upper-limb imaging, with dialysis patients as its first major use case. These patients often need regular monitoring of their blood vessels.

Vexev recently completed a multi-site clinical study with U.S. Renal Care, a major U.S. dialysis provider. The study tested how VxWave could work in regular dialysis clinics and provided early clinical evidence supporting the technology.

During the study, VxWave achieved a 94% scanning success rate when used by non-specialist clinical staff. The technology could help make vascular imaging more consistent and may reduce the time needed to identify problems and begin treatment.

"We are starting with dialysis patients because the clinical need is clear, but our vision is much broader: to build an autonomous imaging platform that helps clinicians make faster, more consistent and more informed decisions across vascular disease."
