Hong Kong Launches Embodied AI Hub to Test Robots in Real-World Environments
Oct 16, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

Hong Kong has launched a new international hub to help artificial intelligence (AI) and humanoid robots move from laboratory research to real-world applications. The initiative aims to support robot training, performance testing and commercial deployment across industries.
The Embodied AI International Applications Hub was established by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), with the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) leading its technical work. According to HKPC, the hub is Hong Kong’s first platform dedicated to training, validation and real-world deployment of embodied AI systems.
How Will the Embodied AI Hub Help Robotics Companies?
The hub will provide technology developers with opportunities to train and test robots in real operating environments before introducing them on a larger scale. The process will help developers identify technical problems and improve robot performance under different working conditions.
According to FLAIR, the testing process will include scenario planning, model training, solution testing, performance evaluation, data collection and further system improvements.
Applications Across Manufacturing, Logistics and Public Services
The hub will support research and development, technology testing, validation and adaptation. It will also help technology partners align their solutions with international standards.
Companies and organizations participating as scenario partners will be able to work with the center on application design, testing, trials and deployment.
The hub is showcasing embodied AI production lines and industrial robots designed for manufacturing, logistics, retail and public-service environments. Potential applications include handling parcels in warehouses, operating across different manufacturing lines and performing inspection tasks in complex facilities.
Hong Kong Strengthens Its Role in AI and Robotics
The launch is part of Hong Kong’s broader efforts to strengthen its AI and robotics ecosystem and connect mainland Chinese technology developers with international markets.
HKPC has highlighted Hong Kong’s access to the mainland market and its alignment with international standards as advantages for cross-regional technology testing.
Hong Kong Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said at the launch that the government would continue supporting AI development through research investment, funding and infrastructure, while maintaining a focus on safety and compliance.
