HSBC Launches HSBCnio AI Tool for Corporate Banking Clients

How Does HSBCnio Work?

HSBCnio allows clients to access banking services using their existing HSBCnet login credentials and permissions. Businesses can also connect their internal systems through APIs, helping them integrate banking services into their existing workflows.

According to HSBC, clients can use their AI tools to access authorised account and transaction data through the bank’s Model Context Protocol (MCP). This access is read-only, meaning the AI tools can retrieve information but cannot make changes to banking records through this access.

HSBC Plans to Add More AI Features

HSBC plans to introduce additional transaction banking features over time. These include Ask HSBC, an AI-enabled tool designed to help clients query and interpret banking information.

The planned features could help corporate finance and treasury teams access relevant banking information more efficiently. However, HSBC has not disclosed a detailed timeline for the rollout of these additional features.

Hong Kong’s Role in Corporate Banking Technology

HSBC has linked the launch to the needs of businesses managing cross-border treasury operations in Hong Kong. On June 9, 2026, the Hong Kong government announced an action plan to attract regional and global corporate treasury centres.

The banking sector is also developing guidance and practices for the use of artificial intelligence. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has issued guidance on generative AI in customer-facing applications, while JPMorgan is also exploring agentic AI for corporate cash and treasury management.
