TELIN and BW Digital will are partnering to build the Nongsa-Changi underwater cable system between Batam and Singapore.

The duo stated on Monday that Nongsa-Changi cable has been built to address unprecedented demand for connection and resilience between Singapore and Batam as data traffic between these two prime data centre growth areas continues to expand dramatically.

The project shows BW Digital and Telin’s strategic collaboration to improve connectivity and digital economic growth in the region.

The 50km Nongsa-Changi cable system will provide data-intensive digital services, direct connect (DC)-to-DC connectivity, and high-density AI applications with a minimum of 24 fibre pairs and reliable communication links

BW Digital and Telin will build and implement the undersea cable system with technical and environmental excellence in mind. The new infrastructure would link Batam and Singapore data centres for efficient data transport.

The cable is expected to be RFS in the fourth quarter of 2025, a major step in regional digital infrastructure development.

“BW Digital is pleased to expand its strategic alliance with Telin to deliver the first cable to directly link Singapore and Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park”, said Ludovic Hutier, Chief Executive Officer of BW Digital. The Nongsa-Changi cable represents a key component of the digital ecosystem we are building in national data platform (NDP), With a landing at the doorstep of the data center campus, it will provide DC operators with fully diverse and secured connectivity, and enable them to further address the spillover demand from Singapore,” he added.

This joint venture’s MoU was signed in Washington DC at International Telecoms Week 2024. Telin delivers premium international carrier voice, data, and business solutions for wholesale, commercial, digital, and retail customers since 2007.

The company has representatives in the UK, Philippines, India, Vietnam, and Canada and operates in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, the US, Timor Leste, the UAE, and Myanmar.
