Indonesia-Based Indosat has Partnered with Google Cloud

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) Group and Google Cloud announced an expanded cooperation to deliver next-generation sovereign cloud and edge cloud services in Indonesia that fulfil the strictest data residency, security, and privacy requirements.

The duo announced in a statement that Indosat Group will offer Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) to Indonesian organisations to address their particular needs for AI and data-intensive workloads at their preferred location.

They said this will enable Indonesian public sector and other critical industries like defence, healthcare and life sciences, financial services, energy and utilities, and manufacturing to accelerate digital transformation with best-in-class AI and analytics while maintaining data security.

GDC is a fully managed solution with a rich set of software services, extensible hardware form factors, and the option to run air-gapped (i.e., disconnected) from the public internet for sensitive workloads or connected between edge locations and the Google Cloud region in Indonesia.

Through its data centres, Indosat Group wants to host GDC on-premises. This keeps data under customer control and in Indonesia, following all legal and sovereignty frameworks, including the Personal Data Protection Law and Government Regulation.

GDC allows organisations to quickly develop and deploy advanced machine learning (ML) and generative AI search applications for easily retrieving and analysing data at their chosen location using Vertex AI’s core features (e.g., Workbench, Pipelines, Predictions).
