Infineon Completes C2i Acquisition to Strengthen AI Data Center Power Technology
Oct 12, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

German semiconductor company Infineon Technologies has completed its acquisition of Bengaluru-based C2i Semiconductors to strengthen its power-management technology for AI data centers and high-performance computing systems. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Infineon confirmed the completion in an October 5, 2026 announcement, stating that C2i’s team has joined its Power Systems division. The acquisition was initially announced on August 24, 2026.
Infineon Adds C2i’s Digital Power Expertise
C2i Semiconductors develops digital power-management technologies, including multiphase controllers, smart power stages and digital control systems. These technologies help manage the power supplied to processors and other high-performance computing components.
The acquisition will combine C2i’s expertise in digital power control with Infineon’s existing portfolio of silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductors.
The combined capabilities are expected to support the development of power-delivery solutions for AI processors. Infineon is also focusing on technologies such as vertical power delivery and substrate-integrated voltage regulators, which bring voltage regulation closer to processors.
Growing Demand for AI Data Center Infrastructure
AI data centers rely on powerful processors that require stable and efficient electricity delivery. As computing workloads increase, managing power consumption, heat and system stability has become an important engineering challenge.
Infineon said software-defined power systems combine semiconductor components with digital controls and algorithms to adjust power conversion according to changing processor requirements.
By adding C2i’s technologies, Infineon aims to strengthen its ability to develop integrated power-management solutions for next-generation AI infrastructure.
Expanding Research and Development in India
The acquisition also strengthens Infineon’s engineering presence in India, particularly in Bengaluru, where C2i is based.
Infineon said it employs approximately 2,800 people across multiple locations in India. The company considers Bengaluru an important center for digital power technology development.
C2i’s engineering team will work within Infineon’s Power Systems division, contributing to the development of power technologies for AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.
