New Energy Transport Raises $5 Mn in Round From Jekara Group

New Energy Transport (NET) has raised an initial US$5 million in funding to speed up the shift to electric trucks in Australia's freight industry.
The funding round was supported by investor Jekara Group, several family offices, and high-net-worth investors, with the deal arranged by net-zero advisory firm Pollination.
The investment comes as demand grows from major Australian companies looking for reliable and affordable electric freight services. The money will help NET launch its first large-scale commercial project, called the Rapid Deployment Project.
As part of the project, the company plans to deploy 20 electric trucks and six mobile ultra-fast charging units on freight routes across New South Wales before the end of the year.
Jekara Group, a Sydney-based venture capital firm that invests in clean energy startups, was one of the investors in the funding round. The firm's portfolio includes companies working in areas such as energy storage and solar technology.
Kara Frederick, Founder and Managing Partner of Jekara Group, said electric freight transport has the potential to improve efficiency and reduce costs across the economy. She added that NET has the right team, business model, and technology to make freight transportation cheaper, faster, and more reliable.
Pollination, which helped arrange the funding round, said NET's approach solves some of the biggest challenges that have slowed the adoption of electric trucks, including infrastructure and cost issues. The firm believes the company is well positioned for future growth and is in a strong position as it prepares to raise a Series A funding round.
Founded in 2024 by Fredrik Pehrsson and Daniel Bleakley, New Energy Transport (NET) is a modern trucking company focused on electric freight transportation. The company operates its own fleet of fully electric trucks and powers them with renewable energy purchased at wholesale rates.
By combining electric vehicles with clean energy, NET aims to provide freight services that are both more environmentally friendly and more cost-effective than traditional diesel-powered trucking.
