OculloSpace Launches First Rocket in Oman,

Singapore-based space technology company OculloSpace has finished the flight of its first experimental sounding rocket AZAD "The Dreamer," which reached an altitude of 10 km. OculloSpace is now building its rocket, AZAD-2, which aims for an altitude of 100 km.

OculloSpace launched the two‑stage rocket from Etlaq Spaceport in Duqm, Oman on October 1 2026. The mission, called Karman X1 was carried out with the help of Oman-based aerospace company Stellar Kinetics MCT.

The 4.3‑metre‑long rocket weighed 26 kg. Climbed to a height of 10 km. According to OculloSpace both stages finished their burns and telemetry data was received for the flight. However the upper‑stage parachute did not deploy.

OculloSpace Develops Its Rocket Programme

Founded by Dr Franco Gan OculloSpace owns and leads the AZADRocket programme. OculloSpace said the programme has been under development for two years and was funded entirely by OculloSpace.

Stellar Kinetics MCT supported the mission as an engineering, manufacturing and launch partner. Etlaq Spaceport supplied launch infrastructure and range safety support.

Other contributors included Australias Orbit2Orbit, which supplied a 1‑kg payload called Snowball and Singapore-based WWG Engineering Pte. Ltd., which provided coated material samples for in‑flight evaluation.

“Our next goal is AZAD-2 and a 100 km flight " said Dr Franco Gan, Founder and CEO of OculloSpace. He also said OculloSpace is looking to collaborate with investors, research institutions and space industry partners to develop launch capabilities.

From Satellite Deployment to Rocket Development

The rocket flight follows another milestone for OculloSpace. On March 30 2026 OculloSpace’s DECIMALSAT-1 PocketQube satellite was launched into orbit by Alba Orbital aboard SpaceX’s Transporter‑16 rideshare mission.

With its satellite in orbit and its first experimental rocket flight finished in about six months OculloSpace is growing its experience in satellite systems, rocket development and flight operations.

How Will OculloSpace Use Its Next Rocket?

OculloSpace is building AZAD-2, which aims to reach an altitude of 100 km the height that is often called the Kármán line and is a boundary of space.

OculloSpace plans to use the data from the Karman X1 mission to help design and test OculloSpaces rocket. Possible uses include research, space technology demonstrations and commercial payload services.

OculloSpace is also looking at the possibility of carrying research payloads that weigh up to 5 kg on AZAD-2. This capacity is still subject to engineering checks, testing and regulatory approvals.

OculloSpace has not announced a confirmed launch date for AZAD-2. OculloSpace’s next steps will depend on development and testing as OculloSpace works toward its goal of reaching 100 km.
