Orbitt Space Secures $1 Mn in pre-seed funding round led by pi Ventures

Orbitt Space, a space tech startup founded by former ISRO scientists, has raised ₹1 million in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Pi Ventures, with support from IIMA Ventures.

The startup will use the money to speed up the design and development of its electric propulsion technology and electronic systems for spacecraft.

“India’s deep-rooted excellence in space tech, led by ISRO, is now fuelling a new wave of private innovation. Orbitt Space is poised to disrupt the satellite market by pioneering access to ULEO to deliver better performance and lower costs for satellite operators,” said Shubham Sandeep, managing director at Pi Ventures.

“When we were at ISRO, we began to identify some of the challenges in the conventional space market. One of the biggest is that low earth orbit is becoming increasingly congested, creating maneuverability and control issues for new satellite launches,” cofounder Parmar said.

Parmar said that when Orbitt’s technology is used with a small and fast 200 kg satellite, it can help with advanced tasks like watching the Earth, fast telecom services, tracking climate changes, surveillance, and science missions.

Orbitt Space, based in Ahmedabad, was founded in February 2025 by Christopher Parmar and Anupam Kumar. The company is developing a new electric propulsion system and a satellite platform designed to work in ultra-low Earth orbit, which is below 250 kilometers from the Earth’s surface.

Parmar and Kumar worked at ISRO for more than eight years, where they focused on designing, testing, and launching satellites. They started Orbitt Space in March 2025.

The company is still building its technology and plans to test it in space soon. Once the tests are successful, it will start offering its platform for commercial use.

Orbitt also plans to expand its team by hiring more scientists and engineers and will begin testing its prototype soon.
