Popcorn AI Studio Secures $1 Mn in to Expand AI Filmmaking Platform

Popcorn AI Studio, a Dubai-based AI-powered video production startup, has secured $1 million in pre-seed funding led by Emirati entrepreneur and investor Mohammed Bin Bouta Alharsoosi.

The company will use the funding to develop its technology, expand its product offerings and grow across international markets.

Popcorn AI Studio Develops AI-Powered Filmmaking Tools

Popcorn AI Studio offers AI-powered tools for scriptwriting, character development, scene generation, voiceovers, lip-syncing and post-production. Its integrated platform is designed to simplify the filmmaking process and reduce the time and resources required to produce professional video content.

The company also focuses on Arabic-language content, including Arabic lip-sync capabilities and support for regional dialects. This approach aims to help creators produce videos that reflect the languages and cultural preferences of audiences across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

By bringing different production tools together, Popcorn aims to make cinematic storytelling more accessible to independent filmmakers, emerging creators and businesses that may not have access to traditional production budgets or large teams.

Funding to Support Product Development and Expansion

The $1 million pre-seed funding was led by Mohammed Bin Bouta Alharsoosi, an Emirati entrepreneur and investor. The investment will support the company's continued AI technology development and the expansion of its creative platform.

Popcorn AI Studio plans to expand its product suite and grow its user base across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The company also aims to develop international partnerships to reach more filmmakers, content creators and businesses.

The funding comes as generative AI tools are creating new ways to produce video content. Popcorn is positioning its platform around an integrated production workflow, with particular attention to Arabic-language storytelling and regional creative needs.

Shady Essam on the Future of AI Filmmaking

Shady Essam, Co-Founder and CEO of Popcorn AI Studio, said the company's goal is to help creators turn their ideas into finished content without being limited by production costs or technical requirements.

"Our ambition isn't to replace filmmakers. It's to remove the barriers between imagination and execution. We want to make it possible for anyone with a powerful story to create something extraordinary, regardless of their budget, location, or technical background."

Popcorn AI Studio Announces Filmmaking Competition

Alongside its platform development, Popcorn AI Studio has announced an AI filmmaking competition associated with the El Gouna Film Festival. The competition features a reported prize pool of $70,000 and is intended to support emerging filmmakers and encourage the use of artificial intelligence in storytelling.

The initiative forms part of the company's broader efforts to engage with the regional filmmaking community and support creators experimenting with AI-powered production.
