Shenzhen Ruoyu Technology has Closes $13.8 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Sunway Communication, with participation from Jinmu Capital, Qindao Capital, Huanghai Capital, and Zhongchuang Capital. The Chinese startup plans to use the funding to advance its robotics intelligence technology, strengthen real-world data collection, and accelerate commercialisation.
The latest round will support the development of its robotics software and hardware systems, improve data collection from real-world operations, and expand commercial deployment.
Developing the Jiutian Robot Brain
Ruoyu's core technology, called Jiutian, is a self-developed robot brain designed around three components: intelligence, robot hardware, and real-world scenario data.
Instead of treating robots only as finished products, the company uses them to collect data from actual working environments. This data helps improve robots' perception, decision-making, task planning, and ability to handle physical operations.
Why Ruoyu Is Focusing on Smart Refuelling
Ruoyu selected smart refuelling as its first commercial application. Refuelling operations can involve explosion risks, outdoor working conditions, and extreme temperatures, making them challenging environments for autonomous robots.
According to CEO Sun Teng, operating in demanding environments helps the company identify technical limitations and improve its systems using real-world problems.
Funding to Support Real-World Deployment
The new funding will help Ruoyu continue developing its full-stack robotics intelligence system and build a stronger connection between real-world data collection and technology improvements.
The company began trial operations at a site in Foshan in April. It later reported that its robots achieved a high task success rate when refuelling specific vehicle models in open environments. Human intervention was required when the system encountered unusual situations.
Challenges and Future Opportunities
Ruoyu's strategy depends on collecting data from real operating environments. While this approach can help improve performance in specific applications, gathering enough data can take time and involve high operational costs.
The company also faces the challenge of adapting its technology to different environments without extensive additional data collection and development.
About Ruoyu

Shenzhen Ruoyu Technology is a Chinese robotics startup founded in 2023. The company develops robot-brain technology through its Jiutian system, combining artificial intelligence, robot hardware, and real-world data. It is initially focusing on smart refuelling, with potential expansion into charging, port operations, and industrial inspection.
