Sand.ai Secures $200 Mn in Series A+ Funding to Advance Video AI Technology

The Beijing-based company announced the funding round on November 5, 2026. CoStone Capital and Shenzhen-listed Wangsu Science & Technology jointly led the investment. Other participants included Chinese venture capital firms, state-backed investors and existing shareholders.

With this latest investment, Sand.ai has Secures a total of $300 million over the past 10 months. The company’s valuation has also crossed $1 billion, making it a unicorn startup.

Funding to Support AI Research and Global Expansion

Sand.ai plans to use the fresh capital to improve its video foundation models, expand AI training and computing infrastructure, and develop new products.

The company will also focus on international expansion and plans to release the full version of its MAGI-2 video-generation model in the near future.

Wangsu Invests $44.5 Million in Sand.ai

Wangsu Science & Technology had previously disclosed its investment plans in a September 29 filing with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

According to the filing, Wangsu planned to invest RMB300 million (approximately $44.5 million) in Sand.ai through a convertible note and warrants for Series A+ preferred shares.

The investment is expected to give Wangsu approximately 4.4% ownership in Sand.ai after the other investors complete their subscriptions.

Sand.ai Develops MAGI Video AI Models

Sand.ai is a Beijing-based AI startup led by Cao Yue, a former principal researcher at Microsoft Research Asia and co-author of the Swin Transformer computer-vision architecture.

The company develops the MAGI family of video-generation models and VidMuse, a paid platform that helps users create music videos, advertisements and animated content.

Its MAGI-2 Preview model is a 114-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model designed to generate audio and video together.
