Sea and Google Explore AI Applications Across Business Segments

The collaboration will focus on identifying practical uses for AI across Sea's different business operations. Sea Labs, the company's technology innovation and development arm, will work with Google to explore new applications using selected frontier AI models and technical support.

The companies have not announced a specific launch date for the applications being explored. The initiative is focused on research, experimentation and identifying opportunities to use AI across Sea's platforms.

AI Applications in E-Commerce, Gaming and Digital Payments

The collaboration could cover several areas of Sea's business, including online shopping, gaming and financial services.

Shopee: The e-commerce platform will explore an AI-powered shopping prototype designed to help customers discover products, connect with sellers and navigate the shopping process more easily. The proposed application could make product discovery more convenient, although the companies have not confirmed a public release date.

Garena: Sea's gaming business will explore how Google's AI technology could support game development and improve gaming experiences. The collaboration may also provide opportunities to test selected AI research projects through early-access trials.

Monee: Sea's digital financial services business will work with Google on the Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), a framework designed to support secure payments initiated by AI agents. Monee will provide feedback on the protocol and explore its potential applications in Southeast Asia's digital payments market.

Sea and Google already collaborate across several areas. Shopee has worked with Google through the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program, while Garena has engaged with Google Play on gaming-related initiatives.
