IBS Software and Singapore Airlines are working together to jointly develop a shipment record system. This would significantly advance the digitisation of shipment records and the use of technology to digitally alter air cargo operations and get closer to IATA’s ONE Record criteria.

The first part of this initiative, which involved creating and sharing shipment records among airlines, cargo community system providers, and ground handling agents on the ONE Record platform, was successfully accomplished by the two corporations in collaboration with Cargo Community Network (CCN).

CUBEforall, an open data collaboration platform from CCN, improves data transparency and interchange while integrating legacy systems with ONE Record standards in a seamless manner.

One of the most widely used papers in air freight is the shipment record, which serves as the foundation for all important organisational planning, sales, and execution operations.

Handling physical paper-based documentation can be inefficient, as a single shipment generates many copies of shipment records amongst various stakeholders. Utilising this new technology has the potential to improve overall operational effectiveness.

Ashok Rajan, Head of Cargo and Logistics Solutions at IBS Software, added, “Partnering with Singapore Airlines, a globally recognised leader in aviation innovation, to drive the digital future of air cargo is a significant objective for IBS Software. In today’s cargo industry, data accessibility and transparency are paramount. Data and digitalisation are key enablers for the development of solutions that allow cargo carriers to grow and meet their customers’ evolving needs. We are proud to have the support of an industry pioneer like Singapore Airlines in enhancing accessibility and excellence in the digitalisation of air cargo.”

Singapore Airlines will be able to retain a single source of truth by digitising its shipping records through ONE Record, which will make the data usable for purposes other than the actual life cycle of shipments.

For all parties involved, this simplified data interchange will promote openness and visibility in reporting, revenue accounting, and long-term planning. IBS Software will make shipment data more accessible to all parties involved in the air cargo supply chain, from shipper to airline.

Marvin Tan, Senior Vice President Cargo at Singapore Airlines, said, “At Singapore Airlines, we continuously invest and innovate in all aspects of the business. By co-developing a digital shipment record solution with IBS Software, we remain committed to meeting IATA’s ONE Record’s goal for enhanced data visibility for all our stakeholders. This collaboration positions both organisations at the forefront of cargo digitalisation, as we unlock new efficiencies and business opportunities and respond to the evolving needs of the industry.”

The basis for further creative use cases that will assist improve efficiencies has been laid by Singapore Airlines’ successful adoption of the ONE Record-based shipment record.
