Hanon Systems, a leading global provider of automotive thermal energy management solutions for electrified mobility, is announcing that following the recent shareholders and Board of Directors meeting, vice chairman Soo Il Lee has been appointed as new CEO, effective January 3.

The company has also transitioned from the Representative Executive Officer system to the Representative Director system to improve governance and operational efficiency.

Joining Hankook Tire in 1987, Mr. Lee has held various leadership positions, including Senior Vice President of Marketing, Head of the Americas Regional Headquarters, Head of the China Regional Headquarters, Head of Marketing, and Head of Business Operations. He served as CEO in 2021 and was promoted to Vice Chairman in 2024. Under his leadership, the company achieved record-breaking revenue and operating profits in both 2023 and 2024, earning recognition for his outstanding management capabilities. Since December 2024, Mr. Lee has been leading the Post-Merger Integration (PMI) task force, driving the integration process to maximize synergies.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Lee emphasized his commitment to improving operational efficiency and strengthening the company’s global competitiveness. He also encouraged employees to adopt a proactive and ambitious mindset, and encouraged them to work together to make Hanon Systems the world’s leading thermal management company.
Since 2015, Hanon Systems has implemented Korea’s first Representative Executive Officer system, separating the Board of Directors and management to ensure a stable joint management structure. With the adoption of the Representative Director system, internal directors are now expected to participate directly in the Board’s decision-making process, enabling faster decisions and more consistent business operations.
