ThrowMeNot, an online marketplace focused on reducing food waste, has raised $550K in a pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mana bin Khalifa Saeed Al Maktoum.
The company plans to use the funds to grow its team and scale delivery and fulfilment operations, ensuring customers get a smooth and reliable experience.
Founded in 2025 by Archie Rudyuk, a UAE-based entrepreneur with more than 10 years of experience in digital commerce, ThrowMeNot aims to solve a major regional problem—food waste—by connecting consumers with surplus food through its online platform.
“In the UAE, an estimated 3.27 million tonnes of food are wasted annually. We founded ThrowMeNot to address this problem, enabling suppliers to recover value from near-expiry inventory while providing consumers with affordable, high-quality products,” said Archie Rudyuk, co-founder of ThrowMeNot.
ThrowMeNot runs an online marketplace that sells near-expiry and surplus products instead of letting them go to waste. These products are offered at discounts of up to 90%, helping suppliers earn money while making it easy for customers to buy at lower prices.
After receiving the new investment, ThrowMeNot is expanding its platform so customers across the UAE can buy discounted near-expiry and surplus items. The marketplace now has over 25 suppliers and lists more than 2,700 products.
The platform features 885+ well-known brands, covering items like chocolates, beauty products and vitamins. ThrowMeNot helps suppliers cut losses, consumers save money, and supports the UAE’s goal of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030 under the ne’ma National Food Loss and Waste Initiative.
“ThrowMeNot’s mission aligns with the UAE’s sustainability agenda and regional efforts to reduce food waste. The platform helps suppliers recover value and provides consumers with affordable food, contributing to a more conscious and sustainable future across the MENA region,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Mana Al-Maktoum, an early investor in ThrowMeNot.
ThrowMeNot plans to grow its platform to reduce food waste, help suppliers recover value, and give customers affordable, high-quality products.
The company also aims to expand across the MENA region and build a wider ecosystem of sustainability-focused products and services. Over time, ThrowMeNot wants to go beyond food and encourage conscious, responsible buying across everyday product categories.
