The partnership will see Gotion contribute its technological knowledge to BESS and ITRAMAS provide expertise in local market access and commercialisation. At the same time, UEM Sunrise, the master developer of the RE Industrial Park, will deliver the infrastructure and foster an environment primed for innovation and sustainability.

UEM Sunrise officer-in-charge and chief financial officer Hafizuddin Sulaiman said in a statement on Tuesday that the partnership with Gotion will positively impact Malaysia’s green economy.

“This partnership amplifies our industrial development strategy, boosting our industrial development values through construction for this transformative project. It embodies our ambition to push boundaries, champion sustainability and establish Iskandar Puteri as a thriving hub for technological and economic progress. By welcoming a global leader like Gotion to Gerbang Nusajaya, we are not merely hosting a cutting-edge R&D centre, we are laying the groundwork for transformative change that will create ripples across industries and shape Malaysia’s green economy for generations to come.”

Meanwhile, ITRAMAS managing director Lee Choo Boo said, “By combining Gotion’s advanced expertise in BESS technology with our local market knowledge and UEM Sunrise’s infrastructural capabilities, this initiative strengthens the foundation for innovation and sustainability. The R&D centre will play a pivotal role in fostering local talent, drive technological breakthroughs and create value for the RE and electric vehicle ecosystems, further advancing Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in clean energy solutions.”

Gotion said in the statement that the partnership will promote the development of RE industry in Malaysia and Southeast Asia by leveraging its expertise in BESS, ITRAMAS’ market insights and UEM Sunrise’s infrastructure capabilities.

In addition, the partnership will also have Gotion and ITRAMAS partner with local-based organisations and academic institutions to drive innovation and develop local talent, the statement added.

ITRAMAS will collaborate with TusStar Malaysia, part of China-based technology incubator TusHoldings, and it plans to partner with DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia.
