FORMAS.AI raises $3.98 million in pre-seed round led by Vertex Ventures SEA & India

FORMAS.AI, an AI-based design platform for architecture, engineering, and construction, has raised about US$3.98 million in a pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and was oversubscribed, meaning more investors wanted to invest than expected.

Other investors included UntroD Capital, Hustle Fund, Big Sky Capital, and Orvel Ventures. Some well-known angel investors also joined, including Jeffrey Tiong, founders of Zopim, Antonio Rami, and Bradley Tabone.

The company will use this funding to grow its team, improve its product and expand its business in global markets. It plans to focus mainly on the US and Europe while also growing in regions like Asia and Latin America.

Since its public beta launch in November 2025, FORMAS.AI has seen strong interest with users creating over 500,000 designs across 135 countries—all coming through natural demand without heavy marketing.

Commenting on the fundraise, Yiping Goh, Co-founder and CEO of FORMAS.AI, said: “The AEC industry is one of the largest and most underdigitised sectors in the world. The current design-tech stack has steep technical learning curves. We want to reimagine what a great design platform looks like when built AI-native, not bolted onto legacy tools – and the global demand we’re seeing confirms that architects and designers are ready for that.”

Professor Carlos Bañón, Co-founder, Chief Product & AI Officer of FORMAS.AI, added: “For decades, architects have adapted their creativity to fit the constraints of their tools. FORMAS.AI flips that relationship. We’re building the workspace where AI amplifies the designer’s intent – not one that replaces it with generic outputs.”

Jessica Koh, Senior Executive Director, Investment at Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, commented: “As AI evolves from fragmented point solutions to integrated platforms, FORMAS.AI is well-positioned in this emerging category – combining orchestration, fine-tuning, and proprietary tools to power design workflows at scale. We’re excited to partner with the team on this journey.”

FORMAS.AI is an AI-powered platform made for people in architecture, engineering, and construction to create designs more easily.

The company was started by Yiping Goh, an experienced entrepreneur and former partner at McKinsey & Company, and Carlos Bañón, a well-known architect and expert in AI and design.

It is based in Singapore and plans to expand into the US, Europe, and Japan. FORMAS.AI is already being used by architects, designers and real estate teams around the world. The company launched its public beta in November 2025 and is openly building and improving its product with user feedback.
